Your privacy, kept simple

The short version

We do not collect personal data ourselves. There are no accounts and no sign-up. The timer’s own data, your countdown, your settings and your session count, stays in your browser on your device and is never uploaded. The site uses Google Analytics to count visits and understand how it is used. We do not currently show ads; if we do in the future, ads may use cookies and other identifiers. The rest of this page explains each of these in plain language.

What we store on your device

The timer keeps a small amount of data in your browser’s local storage. It stays on your device and is never transmitted:

• ttm:state: your running or paused countdown, so it survives a reload.
• ttm:sessions: how many twenty-minute sessions you have finished, for the session counter.
• ttm:audio: your chosen completion sound, ambient scene and volume.
• ttm:theme: your Deep Focus (dark) mode preference.

Clearing your browser’s site data for twentyminutetimer.com removes all of it.

Cookies

The timer itself sets no cookies. The local storage described above is a browser feature that stays on your device; it is not a cookie.

Google Analytics sets its own cookies, with names starting with _ga, to distinguish visitors and measure how the site is used. If we show ads, advertising services such as Google AdSense may also place and read cookies to serve and measure ads.

You can delete or block cookies in your browser at any time. The timer keeps working with cookies blocked; blocking them may simply make visitor counts less complete.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics, a service provided by Google LLC, to understand how the site is used: which pages are visited, for how long, and roughly where visitors are. Google may set cookies and may receive your IP address, in truncated form, to do this. We cannot identify you personally from this data, and we do not try to.

Where the law requires it, such as in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, we ask for your consent before analytics cookies are set. You can refuse without losing access to the timer.

You can opt out of Google Analytics on all websites with Google’s opt-out browser add-on (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout), and you can review and control how Google uses your data at adssettings.google.com.

Advertising

We do not currently show ads. If we do in the future, advertising may be served by Google AdSense or a similar service.

Third-party vendors, including Google, may then place and read cookies on your device, and may use web beacons or IP addresses to collect information as a result of ad serving. We do not pass personal data to advertisers, and we do not sell personal data.

Ads may be personalized or non-personalized. Personalized ads draw on your interests and browsing history; you can control or turn this off at adssettings.google.com. Where the law requires consent, such as in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, we will ask you first, using a consent tool that lets you accept or refuse.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, your browser shows one when the timer finishes while the tab is in the background. The permission is controlled by your browser, and you can deny or revoke it at any time.

Children

The site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we learn that a child has shared personal data with us, we will delete it. If you believe this has happened, contact us using the details below.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over the personal data involved when you use the site, including rights to access, correct or delete it, and to object to or limit its processing. To exercise a right, use the contact details below or the Google controls linked above. We respond to requests as required by law.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the “Last updated” date above is revised, and this page remains the single source of truth.
