About

Built for one simple job: twenty focused minutes

Twenty Minute Timer is a free online countdown for a single, very useful unit of time: the twenty-minute deep work block. No sign-up, no accounts, nothing to install. Just a timer that is honest about the time.

Why twenty minutes

Twenty minutes is the classic deep-work sprint, long enough to make real progress on one thing, short enough to stay sharp. It is the block behind the pomodoro method, the length of a quick workout, and the small ritual that quietly changes a day.

Most timer apps bury that idea under features. This site does the opposite: one countdown, set for twenty minutes, with everything you need to keep it running and nothing you don’t.

What makes this timer different

  • No sign-up, no accounts, nothing to install. The timer is free to use.
  • Privacy-first. Everything the timer saves stays in your browser. We never ask for an account or personal details.
  • All sounds are synthesized. The ambient scenes and completion chimes are generated live by the Web Audio API. There are no audio files, and the timer works offline once the page has loaded.
  • Drift-free. The countdown is anchored to real time, so switching tabs or closing the laptop never makes it lose time.

The craft behind it

The timer keeps your screen awake with the wake lock, shows the remaining time in the tab title, and announces the finish with a notification when the tab is in the background. Finished sessions are counted and remembered on your device. Fullscreen focus mode and keyboard shortcuts keep the screen holding only the timer when it matters.
